Rene I. DominguezRene I. Dominguez, President
Rene I. Dominguez comes to us from St. Mary’s University, where he held the position of Executive Director of Development. In his time as Executive Director of Development, he reorganized development operations, which resulted in a 19% increase in overall dollars and a 38% increase in new support. In addition, Rene was part of the team that garnished a $25 million gift from Bill Greehey, Chairman of the Valero Corporation, to date the single largest gift in St. Mary’s University history and the largest single payment gift in San Antonio history.

Rene’s tenure at St. Mary’s included positions as Interim Executive Director of Major Gifts, Director of Hispanic Initiatives, and Director of Annual Funds. Rene is a St. Mary’s alumnus with a Bachelor of Arts in English Communications and a Masters of Arts in Communication Studies.


Jeffrey Katz,  Director of Finance & Lending
Mr. Katz joined CDLF in November, 2006 as Director, Finance and Lending. He has over 20 years small business lending experience for several regional and commercial banks and finance companies, including Frost National Bank, Wachovia and Heller Financial. He has extensive underwriting, financial analysis, business development and sales management experience with an emphasis on SBA and other credit enhancement programs. Mr. Katz has led SBA lending teams in San Antonio, TX and San Francisco, CA to #1 loan volume status in both markets. He is a Board Member of JOVEN, a San Antonio based non-profit that provides child and family services. Mr. Katz also previously served on the loan committee of the Bay Area Small Business Development Corp., a community loan fund for small businesses similar to CDLF. Mr. Katz received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Los Angeles.


Laura Martinez, Loan Administration Manager
Ms. Martinez joined CDLF in July 2007 as lending assistant. Her primary responsibilities are to provide loan administrative support to the CDLF lenders and clients. Ms. Martinez supports the mission of the organization by actively supporting small business enterprise and economic development. Assists Director of Lending by evaluating businesses financing needs. Manages CDLF’s loan portfolio to ensure growth and credit quality. The perfection of loan documentation, maintenance of credit and collateral files, the servicing of all loans and maintenance of excellent client relations.
